Boot camp vs weight loss holiday
Many of you have come to our site having searched on the term boot camp. Until a few years ago these were a new phenomenon and suddenly they are the most searched weight loss holiday on Google.
So what is a boot camp? Well initially they were a place you went to be woken up early, shouted at and pushed to the limit. They are usually run by ex-forces. They were not targeted or specialising in weight loss, it was just something that occurred when you took on the immense amount of exercise.
We have many people who visit Obsidian who initially thought they wanted a boot camp; they thought it was the only way to achieve results. When they left they realise they had probably not been asking the right question.
Is it a boot camp you want or a weight loss holiday?
Are you looking for a short-term fix or a long-term solution?
The whole ethos behind a boot camp is it is something you could not do at home. It is a short-term attack on your mind and body to produce quick results. At Obsidian we help you to get quick results but then through the mind set program, you will learn how to make the necessary changes at home to continue with success and achieve your long-term goals.
Are you looking for rapid weight loss?
We have an average weight loss of 1.1 pound a day; over 1000 people have now achieved this. Our largest weight loss in a single week is 22 pounds. See our weight loss page for case studies and the science behind our program.
Are you looking to do lots of exercise?
We offer up to 6 classes or sessions a day, plus an onsite gym and outdoor pool. Many guests also go on 2-3 additional walks a day.
Do you want to be shouted at?
OK, we are not good at that, but Elaine our Nurse owned and ran her own gym in New Zealand. She helped to train the All Blacks, and can certainly put you through your paces. She runs several classes a week and can also guide you on your own personal training program.
Do you want to starve?
This can produce quick results but its not good for your body in the long term. Instead, give the body good nutrition.
Do you want 6am wake up calls and compulsory classes?
Sorry our first class is 8am and none of our classes are compulsory, you are an adult. But we will encourage you to join in everything that will help you to achieve your personal goals. Your allocated coach has the sole aim of helping you get the most out of your stay at Obsidian both now and in the future.
If having read this you still think a boot camp is what you want, we hope you have a great time and achieve your goals. Maybe we shall see you at Obsidian some time in the future.
